Using Shelf means agreeing to these terms. They are short on purpose. Shelf is run by Noah Moller in Queensland, Australia.
You need an account, and you have to be at least 13 years old to have one. Keep your sign-in to yourself. Tell noah@moller.com.au if someone else gets into it.
Your quotes, reflections, ratings, shelf names, and club posts belong to you. Shelf stores them and shows them to the friends and clubs you chose, which is the permission the app needs to work. Nothing you write is used to train a model, sold, or published anywhere else.
Shelf has no tolerance for abusive content or abusive behaviour. Do not post anything unlawful, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit, or infringing, and do not copy whole books into a quote. Do not use Shelf to spam or to harass another reader.
Report anything that breaks these rules to noah@moller.com.au with the account name and a screenshot. Reports are read within 24 hours, offending content is removed, and the account behind it can be suspended or deleted. You can also remove a friend at any time from their profile, which cuts off what each of you can see of the other.
Shelf Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through your Apple Account, offered monthly or yearly at the price shown in the app for your country. Payment is taken when you confirm the purchase. It renews at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, and your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
Manage or cancel the subscription in the iPhone Settings app, under your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it. A free trial, where one is offered, ends when the subscription starts, and any unused part of it is lost. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Shelf.
Shelf Pro unlocks hosting a book club and making shelves of your own. The rest of the app is free. If a Pro feature is removed, anyone holding a subscription is told first and can cancel.
Book details, covers, and page counts come from Google Books and are sometimes wrong. Shelf is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will be available or free of faults. Keep nothing in Shelf that you cannot bear to lose, although a copy of your shelf does sit on your iPhone.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live. Beyond those rights, liability is limited to the amount you paid for Shelf in the 12 months before the problem.
You can delete your account in the app at any time. An account that breaks the rules above can be suspended or deleted. These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia.
If these terms change, the date at the top changes, and anything significant is announced in the app before it applies.
