Shelf catalogues the books you own, the ones you have read, and the lines you kept from them. Your shelf is your profile, and your friends can read it.
Write to noah@moller.com.au with anything: a bug, a book that will not scan, an account you want deleted. One person answers, usually within two working days. Say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and what you did just before the problem.
Tap the barcode button on the Library tab. Point the camera at the barcode on the back of the book. If the book has no barcode, switch to the cover and take a picture of it, or search by title. Barcode and cover scanning need a real iPhone, since the simulator has no camera.
Open the book and set the page. Tap Start a sitting when you sit down to read and Shelf counts the minutes on the lock screen. End the sitting and it asks for the page you reached.
Open Profile, then your friend code. Read the other person's code aloud, or let them scan the bookplate on your screen with the camera. Friendship goes both ways, and either of you can end it from the other's profile.
Ask the host for the club code or the club card, then open Feed and join. Everything you write in a club is pinned to the page you were on, so nobody reads past where they have got to.
Shelf Pro lets you host a book club and build shelves of your own. Joining a club, joining a friend's shelf, and the shelves you start with are free and stay free.
Shelf Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple Account. To cancel, open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Shelf. Cancelling stops the next payment and keeps Shelf Pro until the period you paid for ends. There is also a Manage subscription button inside Shelf, under Profile and Settings.
If you bought Shelf Pro and the app does not show it, tap Restore purchases on the Shelf Pro screen while signed in to the same Apple Account.
To delete your account, open Profile, then Settings, then Account, then Delete account. Deleting removes your shelf, your thoughts and quotes, your sittings, your friendships, and your club membership. It cannot be undone and it does not cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel that separately.
The privacy policy says what Shelf stores and who processes it.
Shelf is in beta through TestFlight. Send feedback from TestFlight or take a screenshot in the app and send it to noah@moller.com.au. Crash reports come through automatically when you allow TestFlight to share them.
